Home is where the heart is

At the root of Isabel’s watercolour paintings and designs lies a strong love for gathering stories -through objects, photographs, and the many places she’s called home. Originally Dutch but raised in Indonesia, Kenya, Egypt, and Tanzania, she now lives in Knokke, a seaside town in Belgium. Her creativity is shaped by a deep curiosity, a sense of wanderlust, and a habit of noticing life’s small details - often paired with the urge to get thoughts and ideas onto paper. With her art supplies always within reach, she works from her home studio and often while travelling.

Maison Tribu came to life as a way to bring these passions together with care and intention. Isabel’s commissions range from watercolour collages, wedding stationery suites, and birth announcements to illustrated maps, event invitations, and branding. Each project is created to mark a celebration, support a vision, or honour a memory.

While bespoke projects reflect the lives of others, Isabel’s growing stationery collection offers a tiny glimpse into her own world. She has always felt that a handwritten note is lovingly personal - and connects us in a way that screens never quite can.
